This page explains what Camp Chest is, what it contains, and what it does not. It is written in plain English. It is not legal advice.

Unofficial fan project

Camp Chest is a free, non-commercial fan project made by players for players. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Larian Studios, Wizards of the Coast, or Hasbro, and none of them are responsible for it. There are no ads, no payments, no accounts and no paid features.

Trademarks

Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 3, Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, Larian Studios, and related names and logos are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here only to describe what the site works with. Using them does not imply any endorsement.

No game content is hosted or distributed

The Camp Chest repository and website contain only the project's own code (plus the open-source libraries listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md). They contain no game assets, models, textures, icons, text, localisation, or data extracted from Baldur's Gate 3.

When you use the site, it asks your browser for read-only access to a folder that you pick: your own, legally obtained installation of the game. Everything you see (item names, descriptions, stats, 3D models, textures, dyes and poses) is read from that folder at runtime, locally in your browser. The site is designed so that:

  • game files are not uploaded anywhere;
  • game content is not stored or cached on any server we run, and is not sent to us or to anyone else;
  • game content is not redistributed to other users. Each visitor only ever sees content read from their own copy.

The browser may keep the folder permission and temporary data on your own computer (for example in the browser's storage) so the site can start faster next time. You can remove it at any time with "Change game folder" or by clearing the site's data in your browser settings. That local data is never sent anywhere.

We believe this "bring your own game" approach respects the rights of the game's creators, because the site cannot be used without owning the game and it does not give anyone content they do not already have.

Your obligations

To use Camp Chest you must:

  • own a legitimate copy of Baldur's Gate 3, installed on the computer you are using;
  • comply with Larian Studios' End User License Agreement and any other terms that apply to the game;
  • comply with the terms of the platform you bought the game on (for example Steam, GOG, or Xbox / PC Game Pass).

Do not use the site, or the code, to copy, extract, share or redistribute game content in ways those terms do not allow. You are responsible for how you use the site and the code.

Removal requests and concerns

If you represent a rights holder (including Larian Studios or Wizards of the Coast) and have a concern about this project, or want something changed or taken down, please contact us. We will respond promptly and in good faith, and we intend to take the site down if a rights holder asks us to.

  • Open an issue on the project's GitHub repository: https://github.com/CastroM13/bg3-the-camp-chest/issues

Licence and third-party notices

  • The project's own code is released under the MIT License. That licence covers only the code written for this project. It grants no rights to Baldur's Gate 3 or any of its content, names or trademarks.
  • Third-party code used by the project is credited, with its licence, in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md.

No warranty

The site and the code are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Item data shown on the site is read and interpreted by fan-written code and may be incomplete or wrong; the game itself is always the authority. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the contributors are not liable for any claim, damage or other liability arising from use of the site or the code.

Not legal advice

This notice describes how the project works and what we believe about it. It is not legal advice. If you need advice about your own situation, please consult a qualified lawyer.
